Join the OYA team for a weekend away serving Black women and women of colour communities in Johannesburg (South Africa) and the surrounding area. The retreat will include Kundalini Yoga, Yoga Nidra, mindfulness, workshops, meals as well as leisure for exploring, resting and relaxing.
You Are Worth It is an opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated in Sisterhood.
In today's world, we are - in some ways - more connected than we ever have been. We're constantly inundated with input from our phones, tablets, laptops, and other devices. It is expected of us to always be 'on(line)'. We check in with our devices several times an hour, but how often do we check in with ourselves? We talk about 'hashtag self-care', but what are we doing for our selves on a daily basis?
In the presence of sisterhood, you will have the opportunity to move and to be still, to read, write and sing, to talk and to listen. This weekend is perfect for you if you want to develop, deepen and re-connect with practices that will support you in your daily life, your internal as well as external self-care. This is not indulgence; this is self-preservation.
The exact retreat schedule is subject to change and will be released to registered guests closer to the date.
There will be a number of activities on offer over the course of the weekend.
NEW ::: Opening Ritual & Workshops with Maia! In these sessions we will use writing as a practice to connect with ourselves, to reflect on where we are in our lives right now and explore what we would like to call into it. We'll use free writing to warm up our writing muscles and bring play and fun in our practice.
NEW ::: Kundalini Yoga with Yumna! The yoga sessions are available to all levels - no matter if you've practiced yoga before or if this will be your first time. These sessions help ground the Self while accessing higher consciousness.
NEW ::: Mindfulness Practice & Closing Ritual with Stacie! At the beginning and end of each day, participants will be given the space for meditation, prayer, guided visualisation and mindfulness as well as Yoga Nidra in order to start and finish each day with intention. These sessions are interactive.
Shared double bedrooms, and each room is simply decorated. There are communal toilets, shared bath- and shower rooms throughout. There is also plenty of space for camping. You can have a look at the lalela. a place of listening website for more details.
The retreat is fully-catered for breakfast, lunch and supper. Meals are vegan/vegetarian and made with love by the hosts who run lalela. a place of listening.
Arrivals are welcome from 4:00pm on Friday, 18 January 2019. We ask that all guests arrive by 6:30pm so that we can open the space and introduce ourselves to the land together. On Sunday the 20th all guests can plan to depart after lunch.

Option 2 is to take a taxi to Krugersdorp and change there for another taxi to Magaliesburg. You’ll have to walk a little in Krugersdorp to another taxi rank. This costs in total around R35.
We can arrange a pick up for you from Magaliesburg.
