Moving into a New Season

Clarify your compass and step out.

Nearing the end of a cycle, let’s use this time to pause and exhale before diving deep into unexplored waters. You’re invited to unlock that what lies within in a supportive, nonjudgmental and compassionate environment surrounded in Sisterhood. This retreat is designed to help you to be real with yourself, accept and celebrate who and where you are now, so that you may trust your ability to navigate your next step.

As we literally and figuratively move into a new season, we want you to tap into your big dreams, your life’s vision, and values to release the weight of your fears. Then it becomes possible to recentre and resource yourself for the path ahead.

There will be a balance of group sessions, me time, as well as opportunities to book private treatment sessions, such as embodied healing and massage.

This retreat is for Black women and women of colour.

Course Content

Welcome Home!

  • We’ll spend Friday afternoon and evening arriving in the space. Through movement, mindfulness, and a wonderful vegan dinner, guests will be gently guided into the weekend.

You’re welcome to arrive from 4pm, and we will begin at 6:30pm sharp to allow us plenty of time to get to know each other and set the foundation for the weekend’s journey.

  • Saturday is a full day that will begin with silent meditation followed by a celebratory breakfast where silence is broken.

Over the course of the day, we will use Circle sessions, movement, mindfulness, contact with nature, me time, and more to explore the deeper parts of ourselves that are often hidden from us in the day to day. In the shadows, we often find secrets, strength, treasures, and the richness of our intuition.

  • To bring closure to our weekend journey together, we will use movement, mindfulness, Circles, and a Fire Ceremony to prepare us to enter back into the world around us.

Guests will leave the weekend with honest reflection, compassion for what is, and clarity for their role in what is next to come.

Have questions?

Want to ask us a question about this event? Take a look through the FAQs to find answers to common queries. You are welcomed to reach out to us via the contact form.

  • People who identify as Black women or women of colour.

  • Retreats are exclusive to Black women and women of colour to centre shared experiences.

  • No, not at all. We aren’t holding you to your abilities or knowledge. Retreats are intimate groups and that affords us, your tutors, guides, to support you throughout.

  • You must be all-in for the entire retreat. It’s not possible to only book single classes. We emphasise creating a space in which sisters can exchange and build trust. This atmosphere would not thrive as well, if guests were changing throughout the retreat.

  • Not all venues are 100% accessible. Please do get in touch so that we can find a solution together.

  • You don’t have to be an advanced yoga practitioner at all. We welcome the humblest of beginners. We’ll provide different options to accommodate all levels.

  • It’s best that you have your own equipment and your booking confirmation email will cover those specifics. We do have a limited amount of yoga mats and props so please let us know if you may struggle with this.

  • Putting good, nourishing food into our bodies during the retreat contributes to goodness coming out of us. Food is vegan and gluten-free, tea is available all day and alcohol is prohibited. If you have special dietary needs, please let us know in advance.

  • Bedding and sheets are provided by the venues. Some venues do not provide towels, so please read your confirmation e-mail carefully or bring your own towels just to be on the safe side. Cosmetics will be available, but if you have any allergies, we recommend you bring your own products.

  • We will clarify this in the confirmation e-mail as it depends on the venue. But to make the most out of the retreat, it’s well worth going offline for the duration. A challenge, we know, but you will feel truly rested and committed to your peacefulness.

  • Please let us know as soon as possible if something prevents you from attending the retreat. If you need to cancel more than 30 days before the retreat start date, we will refund you 50% of the retreat costs. Within 30 days of the retreat, we will not be able to refund you unless we can find someone to take your position. In that case, you will receive a full refund minus the nonrefundable deposit of 50% within 30 days after the retreat has ended. No exchanges. Transfers possible. There are no refunds or exchanges for virtual and urban retreats. No exceptions. Transfers are available at the discretion of OYA Retreats.
